Norman Jean Bessette Sr. (Picture included)
BESSETTE, NORMAN JEAN SR. 89, died peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by the loving embrace of his wife Helen and his family on the evening of January 13, 2014. Devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, he was survived by his wife Helen Bessette, son Norman J. Bessette, Jr., daughter Mary Bessette Kammerer and grandson Matthew W. McIntyre. His love, guidance and great humor will forever be remembered. Anyone that knew him loved him and laughed with him. He lived by his own very wise words "Have a good time while you're still in your prime." Norm served in active duty as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific theatre during WWII. He later graduated from Roger Williams University, and was then employed with Mobil Oil Corp. for 35 years as a commercial site developer. Later, he enjoyed a long retirement together with his wife Helen of 30 years. Very typical of Norm, as he is always thinking of others first, he is now resting at Brown University for the further education of our future doctors. The family will be having private services followed by a public memorial mass at St. Francis of Assissi at 114 High Street, Wakefield at 10:00 AM February 16, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250, or visit www.dav.org.
