Betty Jean Hadley

Gustavus, Ohio - Betty J. Hadley, age 87, died after an extended illness, on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at her home, with her family by her side. She was born on May 12, 1926, in Farmdale, Ohio, a daughter of Jennie Faye (DiDay) and Arner Milton Standley. Mrs. Hadley was a 1944 graduate of Kinsman High School. On September 21, 1944 she married Alvin Dwight Hadley. She served as the Post Master for the United States Postal Service in Farmdale, Ohio for eighteen years. A longtime member of the Gustavus Federated Church, Mrs. Hadley was the church organist for over forty-five years. She was a member of the Gustavus Mothers Club and enjoyed helping with the church's fall bazaar and tending to her flower gardens. Mrs. Hadley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-five years, A. Dwight Hadley, who died on February 3, 2010; two grandchildren and an infant sister. Survivors include two daughters, Lora (Gerald) Hunkus of Gustavus, Ohio, Kathy (John) Schultheis of Layton, Utah; three sons, John M. (Phyllis) Hadley of Statesville, North Carolina, James L. (Melody) Hadley of Cortland, Ohio and Allen (Judy) Hadley of Bellfontaine, Ohio; a brother, Dale (Martha) Standley of Salem, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Gustavus Federated Church, 8850 St. Rt. 193, Farmdale, OH. A private burial will take place in Gustavus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Gustavus Federated Church, PO Box 5, Farmdale, OH 44417 or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512.
