Edward Parent (1927-2016) (Picture included)
PAWTUCKET - Edward Parent, 89, of Pawtucket, RI, passed away at his home on September 13, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Claire (Mallon) Parent.Born on June 8, 1927 in Fall River, MA, he was raised in Ocean Grove, MA. He was the son of the late Ovila Parent and the late Valeda (Bessette) Parent.
Edward honorably served our country in the United States Navy. A Carpenter by trade until retiring in 1990, he worked for many years at Cumberland Engineering Co. and previously at Paris Construction Co., and was a resident of Pawtucket, RI for the past seventy years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Joseph E. Parent and his wife, Priscilla R. (Dohring) Parent of Attleboro, MA; Kenneth Parent of Norridgewock, ME; Barbara A. (Parent) Lynch and her husband, Thomas M. Lynch, of North Attleboro, MA. He leaves his cherished eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Sandra Thibault and her husband, Ronald Thibault, of Tiverton, RI, and leaves several nieces and nephews.
Edward was the loving father of the late James Parent and was predeceased by one brother and four sisters.
Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
Children's room is available during visitation.
Those in need of a local ride to the visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such complimentary transportation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro, MA.
Burial services with military honors will follow in Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro, MA, at which time Edward will be laid to rest alongside his late son, James.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edward's memory to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904-9826.
