Bassette-Pegeas
The marriage of Miss Faye Cynthia Pegeas, daughter of Mrs. Walker Peageas of Richmond and the late Mr. Pegeas, to Andrew Ernest Bassette of Richmond, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William B. Bassette who lived in Jarratt, took place July 17 in the Italian Gardens at Maymont Park.
The Reverend James C. Kelley of Fifth Baptist Church officiated. Honor attendants were Miss Debra Kay Sowell and Mrs. Lawrence Sowell of Willimantic, Connecticut. Ernest Robinson of Richmond was best man. The couple will live in Richmond.

Andrew "Andy" William Ernest Bassette, Sr. was born on March 26, 1935 in Jarratt, Virginia, to the late William and Jessie Harris Bassette. He was the youngest of nine children. At any early age he received Christ and was baptized at Hassadia Baptist Church in Jarratt, Virginia and later joined Fifth Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. He was educated in the Jarrett and Amelia County public schools and later moved to Richmond, Virginia and attended Armstrong High School. To Andy, family came first. He listened, cared, shared his wisdom, provided guidance and offered support when needed. Andy had a good heart. Andy was born with the gift of entrepreneurship. He was ambitious, persistent and tenacious. He was a visionary and was not afraid to embrace a new challenge that would create the next opportunity. From an early age, he had a desire to be a business owner. Although he worked for the Henrioc County Waste Water Treatment for several years, he knew that there was more for him to do. He entered into an apprenticeship at Atlas TV Service under the leadership of Norman Blalock. Using that knowledge, he opened Andy's TV Service Center where he provided TV repair service to the community for over 35 years. After that, he owned and operated "The Showplace Snack Bar" at the Showplace Event Hall, where he provided concessionaire services for over 20 years. All who knew him considered him the "go to guy for information". Andy was not all work and no play. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved everything outdoors - hunting, fishing, raising and training beagles. He was known to have raised and trained over 50 dogs at a time in his kennel. To keep in touch with his rural upbringing, he insisted on having a garden every year. He shared the vegetables with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife; Faye Pegeas Bassette of 35 years, 3 sons, Andrew Bassette, Jr., Keith Antonio Bassette, Kevin Bassette and one daughter, Angela Scroggins; 4 sisters-in-law, Joanna Sowell, Janet Williams, Vernetta Bassette Jones and Georgia Brockington; 4 brothers-in-law, Roscoe, Samuel, Warren and Gary Pegeas; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 30 nieces; 24 nephews; and a host of special friends and relatives.
