(Buster) Bass, 61, Frankston, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, in the Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel in Tyler with the Revs. Forrest Bass and Charles Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Union Grove Cemetery in Troup. Mr. Bass died Sunday, July 7, in a Tyler hospital after a sudden illness. He was born June 23, 1930 in Tyler. He was a retired self-employed paint contractor and a Baptist. He was a Tyler resident for 35 years, moving to Frankston in 1984. Survivors include his wife, Verleen Bass, Frankston; two sons, David Bass, of Tyler, and Forrest Bass of Weatherford; four daughters; Becky Higgins of Chapel Hill, Pam Tucker and Cheryl Nixon of Whitehouse, and Michelle Bass of Frankston; three brothers, H. L. Bass of Tyler, Jerry Bass of Chapel Hill, and Sonny Bass of Tyler; three sisters, Dorris Bass of Tyler, Mary Dell Jones of Frankston, and Shirley Goodrich of Tyler; and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers included J.D. Jones, Johnny Goodrich, Pat Hendrix, Robert Steel, Hud Hanson and David Conley. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Haynes, Freddie Becker and Thurman Johnson.
