Lela Parrish Bass Eatmon, age 81, died Saturday, February 24, 2001, at Brekenridge Retirement Center in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Graveside services will be held today, 11 a.m., at Maplewood Cemetery with the Reverend Charles Bartholomew officiating. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Bass. Survivors include daughters, Winifred Chocklett of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and Connie Chocklett of Mauldin; son, Tom Bass of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister, Iver Crabtree of MeBane, North Carolina; grandchildren, Susan Andrews of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Melissa Bass of Charlotte, North Carolina, Eddie Chocklett of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Wyatt Chocklett and Jay Chocklett, both of Mauldin; great-grandchildren, Josh, Paxton and Connor Andrews; several favorite nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Brekenridge Retirement Center. Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Service, 2704 W. Nash Street, Wilson, North Carolina, is in charge of the arrangements.
