Charles ?Chuck? Alan Bass, 61, passed away in the comfort of his beloved home in Wall Township on July 21, 2021. Chuck valiantly fought pancreatic cancer with grace and grit. Despite a devastating diagnosis, he remained as charismatic and upbeat as ever.
Chuck was born on September 15, 1959 in Neptune, New Jersey. He was a graduate of Wall High School and earned a bachelor's degree in physical chemistry at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. He was fiercely proud to be a Scarlet Knight and enjoyed watching Rutgers football and basketball games.
Chuck had a very impressive career in science and sales that spanned over four decades. He greatly enjoyed his long and successful career with Dow Chemical, which later transitioned into Dupont and then IFF. His most recent role was as Pharmaceutical Sr. Key Account Leader. He was extremely proud of his team and woke up every day ready to get to work.
Chuck?s love of chemistry was not limited to the lab. He was a masterful chef and loved experimenting with new recipes and making gourmet meals for his family. He particularly enjoyed perfecting his grandmother?s Sicilian specialties.
Benevolent, gregarious, and kind, Chuck had a glorious larger-than-life personality. His booming laugh and magnetic smile could brighten any room. He was very proud of his Sicilian heritage and acted as ?consigliere? to anyone who needed advice or comfort. He always went out of his way to help others. His daughter, Lianna, referred to her dad as ?Yoda.? He always knew what to say and encouraged everyone to ?do the right thing.?
Tennis was Chuck?s favorite passion. Some of his best moments were spent on the courts of the Manasquan River Yacht Club (MRYC) in Brielle. His ?tennis buddies? meant a great deal to him.
Above all else, Chuck loved his family. He is joined in Heaven by his cherished maternal grandmother Pasquala (Esther) Rinaldi; maternal grandfather Calogero (Charlie) Rinaldi; and paternal grandmother Hester Pardon Bass Rainwater.
Chuck will be deeply missed by Donaly, his devoted wife of 37 years; loving daughter Lianna; beloved mother Clara (Claire) Rinaldi Bass: aunt and godmother Alberta Rinaldi; father Amos Brown Bass Jr.; mother-in-law Sandra Hyland (Robert); father-in-law Jim Casey; sisters Cynthia Bass and Michele Burns (Donald); brothers-in-law Mike Berner and Chris Casey (Tracie); nephews Nicholas Sollogub (Sarah Walch) and Jimmy Casey; nieces Kristi Burns (Stephen Terkildsen), Danielle Siegel (Luc), and Shelby Berner; great-niece Briella Terikldsen; great-nephew Stephen Terikldsen; and numerous friends he considered family.
Arrangements are under the care of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan. The family will be hosting a celebration of Chuck?s well-lived life at a later date. They ask that in lieu of flowers, please do a shot of Jack Daniels in Chuck?s honor. To send condolences to the family please visit www.orenderfamilyhome.net.
