Lynn ?Mike? Bassett Jr.
Lynn E. Bassett Jr., 71, of Rome passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family at his side on November 27, 2015. He was born on June 23, 1944, in Rome, a son of the late Lynn and Agnes Kennedy Bassett. After high school Mike enlisted in the United State Marines, serving in Cuba and Japan. Mike was united in marriage to the former Sharon Bush and together they raised four children. He worked at Oneida Silversmith as a press machine operator until his retirement.
Surviving is his loving wife Sharon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Donald Norris, Grand Junction, CO, Michelle and Horace Backer Jr, West Leyden; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Lorraine Bassett, Rome, Michael and Amy Bassett, KY; a sister Emma Jean Hagerty, Rome; two brothers John Bassett, Rome and James Bassett, Vernon; thirteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Mike was predeceased by a grandson Jacob Bassett and a canine companion Frankie.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from Strong - Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 401 North George Street, Rome. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday from 12- 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will take place in Holland Patent Cemetery.
