SPRINGFIELD ? A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill for I. Wayne Bass of Springfield, who died Oct. 31 of age-related causes. He was 82.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Nov. 4, at Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.
He was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Brush, Colo., to Irving and Martha Peterson Bass. He married Marjorie Douglas in Sept. 9, 1949. She died in 1985. He married Roberta Kimble on Dec. 5, 1987, in Springfield.
He held master's degrees from Grace College in Omaha, Neb., and Grace College in Winona, Ind. He worked as a pastor for the Dexter and Pleasant Hill Baptist churches
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven of Portland; two daughters, Rebecca Erickson of Springfield and Elizabeth Cuellar of Houston; a stepson, Randy Williamson of California; a stepdaughter, Cindy Williamson of Colorado; nine grand¬children; and 10 great-grand¬children. A daughter, Barbara Clark, died Dec. 9, 2006.
Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.
