      Long-time Fairbanksan Natalie Agnes Cornforth, 98, died on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, in her home. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Natalie was the daughter of the late Almont Longtin and Mamie Bassett Longtin.
      After Natalie's first job in Oklahoma City, she worked U.S. Government civil service positions in Washington, D.C., and Pasadena, California, before coming to Alaska in 1942 for a job at Elmendorf Air Force Base. She then headed north to work at Ladd Army Airfield and Eielson Air Force Base, living in Salcha before settling in Fairbanks to raise her family.
      From clerk to chief, Natalie was employed by the U.S. Geological Survey Map Office in Fairbanks for 30 years, first in the Stepovich Building on First Avenue, and later at the Federal Building on 12th Avenue. Natalie is survived by her two daughters, Jan Cornforth and Jill Cornforth, both of Fairbanks. She is preceded in death by her sister, Eloise Longtin Loeffler, and her husband, Eugene Cornforth.
      A memorial service officiated by Chaplain David Rumph will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at the Blanchard Family Funeral Home, 611 Noble St. in Fairbanks, Alaska.
