Mr. John Henry Bassett, jr.

Mr. John Henry Bass, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Research Medical Center.
John was born July 5, 1950, in Columbia, MO. He was raised in a loving God fearing home by his father John Henry Bass Sr, and mother Mae Helen Bass, in Kansas City, MO.
One of John's passions was for cars and trucks. He enjoyed working and modifying the engines. But loved driving them more. Especially race cars which he did some minor racing at competitive race tracks. He also won a few trophies along the way.
Riding motorcycles were a close second to race cars for John. He also belonged to a motorcycle club. You would see him in his motorcycle jean or leather jacket with black boots. Where he would stroll the streets on a Saturday enjoying the breeze. Or parade around at Swope Park on a Sunday afternoon with the other bikers.
Because driving trucks for fun wasn't enough he soon turned it into a career for truck driving. He drove 18 wheelers over the road. Then later transitioned to driving dump trucks locally for some of the largest companies in Kansas City.
Later in life when his driving career ended, he turned his attention to electronics. Repairing and modifying TVs, stereo's, VCRs, and DVD players. But his ultimate love was he cherished the company of his children and grandchildren. Often regaling them with stories of the past about his younger years and fast cars.
Proceeded in death by his parents. John's legacy will be carried forward by his son (John III), his daughter's (Chasady) and (Nakishia), ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, June 22, at 11:00am at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Interment Log Providence Cem.-Columbia, MO. Visitation 10:00am-11:00am at the chapel. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons. Condolences may be shared on our website.
