Mrs. Walter Bass
Florence, April 5. - (Special) - Mrs. Gertrude Bass, 43, died at 9:15 Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Turner, 212 ½ North Irby Street, after a long illness. Mrs. Bass was the wife of Walter Bass, a farmer of Cassatt.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Waters funeral home in Florence at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning by the Reverend H.L. McCall, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist church. Interment will be in the Turkey Creek Cemetery near Bishopville.
Mrs. Bass was born in Chesterfield County September 9, 1904. For a number of years she has resided in Columbia. She was a member of the Bishopville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Bass, four daughters, Mrs. Johnnie Helkey of Charlotte, Mrs. James Turner of Florence, Mrs. Charles Aiken of Cayce and Miss Joann Bass; three sons, Wallace Bass, Walter Bass Jr., Bobby Jean Bass; and her mother, Mrs. Ollie Moore Poston, all of Cassatt.
