She was born the daughter of Paul and Carolyn (Wells) Bassett on March 23, 1913 in Corning, N.Y. She was married to Edwin M. Sawyer who was a former manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. She was a former member of the Kings Daughters. She is survived by her two daughters, Dale S. (Roger) Young of Mt. Morris, Dyann (William) Weikert Sr. of Williamsville; five grandchildre Robert (Deborah) Young of Tennessee, Bruce (Elizabeth) Young of Walwort Andrew (Jennifer) Young of California, William Weikert Jr. of Rochester and Wendy (Tim) Transiscus of Williamsville; three great grandchildren, Sarah and Benjamin Young of Tennessee and Katy Transiscus of Williamsville and several cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Edwin M. Sawyer in 1997. No prior calling. Graveside services to be held Friday, Oct. 12 at the Mt. Morris Cemetery at 11:30 am, with the Rev. Carin Farmer officiating. Memorials may be made to the United Church of Mt. Morris, State Street, Mt. Morris, NY 14510. Arrangements by the John W. Martin Funeral Home, 37 Chapel St. in Mt. Morris.
