Esther Cohen Bass
Esther Cohen Bass, 89, widow of Nathan Bass, of Bishopville, died Saturday in Lee County Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Bass was born in Russia, a daughter of the late Jacob and Rose Cohen. The family immigrated to the United States in 1890. She was a member of Tree of Life Congregation.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Arthur Ginsburg of Bishopville, Mrs. Joseph Lipsitz of Beaufort, Mrs. Isaac Jacobs of Charleston and Mrs. Hyman Brody of Philadelphia, Pa. and two sons, Jack Bass of Columbia and Samuel B. Bass of Chicago.
Services will be 3 p.m. today in Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, conducted by Rabbi Aaron Kriegel.
Burial will be in Hebrew Benevolent Society Cemetery.
The family suggests that those who wish may make memorials to the charity of their choice.
