Mrs. Ruby Mae Smith Bass, 71
LIBERTY - Mrs. Ruby Mae Smith Bass, 71, died Friday afternoon, April 14, 2000, at Hospice of Alamance Caswell in Burlington.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2000, at the Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Liberty, with the Rev. Lynn Cash officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro.
Mrs. Bass was a native of Halifax County, Va., a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Kimesville and a homemaker.
Mrs. Bass was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 52 years, Hanibal (Sam) Bass and also preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Hoy of Greensboro, Mrs. Jean Pickens and son-in-law, Roger of Burlington and Mrs. Mary Dunn and son-in-law, Barry of Siler City; sister, Mrs. Florence Hite of South Boston, Va.; brothers, Mr. Charles R. Smith of Phenix, Va. and Mrs. Horace P. Smith of Charlottesville, Va.; one beloved granddaughter; two adored great-grandchildren; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, at the Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Alamance Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215; or Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 4400 Alamance Church Road, Liberty, N.C. 27298.
