William R. Bassett
William R. Bassett, 74, of Buffalo, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at his residence in Buffalo.
He was born on November 29, 1950, to late William A. and Dolores ( Barker) Bassett.
William graduated from Brother Rice High School in Chicago, Illinois and went on to graduate from Lewis University. He served his country honorably as a United States Army Veteran.
His marriage was to Terry Keller on July 26, 1986, in Orland Park, Illinois. She survives in Buffalo.
William had lived in Lockport, Burbank and Palos Hills, all in Illinois and then Buffalo.
He was a faithful member of the Faith Covenant Fellowship Church in Monticello.
William's career as a truck driver spanned over 40 years, retiring in 2016.
He enjoyed attending the Tuesday night cruisers and socializing, never meeting a stranger.
Along with his wife Terry and his mother Dolores, he is survived by a son Albert Bassett ( wife, Renee) of Murray, Kentucky; two step children, Rachel De Riddder (husband, Brian) of Crown Point, Indiana and Gregory Janacek of Casa Grande, Arizonia; siblings, Charles Bassett ( wife, Linda) of Palos Heights, Illinois, Mary Bassett of Frankfort, Illinois and Jim Bassett ( wife, Debby) of Joliet, Illinois and three grandchildren, Reilly Bassett, Will Bassett and Krystiana DeRidder.
Visitation will be held at the Fred L. Miller Memorial Chapel of the Roscka Roth & Clapper Funeral Home, Monticello, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 11:00am until time of services celebrating William's life at 1:00pm.
