Robert ?Bob? Bassett (1936 ? 2017)
Mr. Robert "Bob" Bassett, 81, of Pittsfield, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on August 6, 1936 the son of Pierson and Julia Reidy Bassett, he was a graduate of St. Joseph High School.
Mr. Bassett worked as a Technician at General Electric, Plastics Division for over 30 years. He was a member of the GE Pensioners and Quarter Century Club, and the Cheshire Rod and Gun Club. Bob was a talented craftsman and enjoyed woodworking.
Mr. Bassett is survived by his wife, the former Maryann Baumgartner, whom he married on July 6, 1968. He also leaves his seven children, Deborah Levering, Doreen Eddy, Daniel Bassett, Dean Bassett, Douglas Bassett, Philip Litano and Lisa Harvey; a sister, Eleanor Herlihy; 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen "Kate" Butler.
Funeral Notice: There will not be formal calling hours for Bob, but, instead a time for family and friends to share memories and express condolences at Dwyer Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA in his memory.
