Arthur L. Bassett, 76, a retired carpenter, died Wednesday at the Veterans Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been a patient there since late December. He had been living in Rensselaer when he fell and fractured his hip.
He was born in Morocco and was a veteran of World War I. He never married. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Charles Hoover of Mt. Ayr and a brother Elmer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2 o'clock at Hancock's Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Crellin officiating. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.
