  Notes	Kokomo Daily Tribune, Indiana, 5 May 1902 Henry Bassett Dead Well Known Colored Man Passes Away After a Brief Illness Henry Bassett, the well known colored coachman who has bee in the employ for F.A. Leiss, the music dealer, for so long, died Sunday evening at 7:30 o?clock at his late home, near the residence of Titus Ballenger, in the western suburbs of the city, aged about fifty years. Mr. Bassett had only been ill for a period of ten days with a complication of troubles. The funeral will take place at the Baptist church Tuesday in the colored settlement in Ervin township. The remains will find a resting place in the Bassett graveyard near the church. A widow and two grown children, Mrs. Jennie Parmer and Wiley Bassett, of this city, two brothers and a sister, Revs. Richard Bassett and Miles Bassett, and Mrs. Nancy Locust, survive him. Henry Bassett was a Christian gentleman. Mr. Leiss, for whom he worked, speaks in the highest terms of him and says he was one of the best men he ever knew.
