Sunday night at the Gebo Pool Hall five men were more or less seriously wounded when James Briggs, according to the report fired several shots from a forty-five revolver.
According to the story as told by witnesses, two men, William Leport and Chris Radnovich, engaged in a fist fight. James Briggs is said to have pulled his gun while the fight was in progress and started in to clean up the pool hall.
The five men wounded were Chris Radnovich, William Kapp, Mike Rodich, George Rodnovich and William Bassett. William Kapp is said to be in a very serious condition. The men were taken to the hospital at Gebo and treated by Dr. Pierce, later some of them came to Thermopolis and are under the care of Dr. Carter.
The Sheriff's force was notified and Sheriff Hazen and Deputy McFarllne went to Gebo. They placed Briggs under arrest and lodged him in the county jail.
Briggs shot a man once before at Gebo and plead guilty to a charge of feloneous assault. He was released and sentence was not pronounced. He is still liable to imprisonment on the old offense. The limit for feloneous assault is 14 years.
It is reported here that there had been bad feelings for some time between certain factions at the mine and that the shooting is the result of those feelings.

IN THE JUSTICE COURT BEFORE JOHN A.THOMPSON, JUSTICE OF THE PEACE IN AND FOR HOT SPRINGS COUNTY WYOMING.
THE STATE OF WYOMING, PLAINTIFF, versus JAMES BRIGGS, DEFENDANT.
The above entitled case coming on for preliminary hearing on this date, a complaint having been filed in my office, duly sworn to by Fred Wyckoff, County and Prosecuting Attorney of Hot Springs County, Wyoming, charging the defendant with a felonious assault, the defendant being present and represented by C. W. Axtell, his attorney, he stated that he was charged by his true name, waived the preliminary hearing and stated that he would submit his case to the District Court.
It is therefore, Ordered by the Court, that the said James Briggs be and he is hereby bound over to the District Court to appear forthwith before that Court and his bond is fixed at the sum of $3,000.00.

I, Fred Wyckoff, do solemnly swear that on or about the 16th day of March A.D. 1924, in the County of Hot Springs and State of Wyoming, the said James Briggs did willfully, maliciously and unlawfully and feloniously, and with premeditated malice commit an assault upon the person of another, to-wit: Chris Radovich, with a deadly weapon, to-wit: a loaded revolver, for that he, the said James Briggs, did then and there shoot him, the said Chris Radovich, with said deadly weapon, with the intent then and there, him, the said Chris Radovich, to kill and murder. Contrary to the form of the Statute in such case made and provided and against the peace and dignity of the State of Wyoming.

Now, on this 29th day of May A.D. 1924, the same being one of the Regular days of the October, A.D. 1923 terms of this Court, came the above named defendant, James Briggs, in his own proper person, appearing for judgement and sentence, the said defendant having been heretofore, at the present term of this Court, duly arraigned and plead guilty to the crime charged in the information, to wit: That of felonious assault.
And the defendant being by the Court informed of the _____________ was thereupon asked by the Court whether he had anything to say why judgement should not be pronounced against him, and the defendant not having given any good or sufficient reason why judgement of the Court should not be pronounced, and the Court being fully advised in the premises:
It is, Therefore Ordered, Considered, Adjudged, and Decreed, by the Court that you, JAMES BRIGGS, be remanded to the custody of the Sheriff of the County of Hot Springs, and, within such time as provided by law, viz, ten days that you be taken by the Sheriff to the Wyoming State Penitentiary, situate at or near Rawlins in the County of Carbon, in the State of Wyoming, and by said Sheriff delivered to the Warden, keeper of property officer of said penitentiary, and that you be therein imprisoned and confined for the maximum term of six years and the minimum term of two years in said The Wyoming State Penitentiary; and that you be governed, clothed and subsisted during said period according to the rules of said The Wyoming State Penitentiary; and
