CLAUDETTE T. BRIGHT, 54, of Fruitland Park died Wednesday at Tampa General Hospital. A native of Quincy, she had lived in the Tampa Bay area most of her life. She was a homemaker and a Protestant. She is survived by her husband, Edward; two sons, Craig E. and Todd M., both of Tampa; her parents, Claude and Mildred Thackerson of Jacksonville; her grandmother, Zella Bass of Jacksonville; and one sister, Anne McCook of Jacksonville. THACKERSON Mildred Bass Thackerson, 98, born October 8, 1914 in Quincy, Florida to George and Zella Bass, passed away May 24, 2013 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was a graduate of Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee, Florida, and pursued graduate studies at Jacksonville University. She worked for the Division of Family Services and the State of Florida as a social worker for 39 years before retiring in 1979. She was an avid gardner loving beautiful flowers, and to her family was the best cook in the world. Her pound cake was everyone's favorite, and she never wanted anyone to leave her home hungry. She was a member of Arlington Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Claude Thackerson; daughter Claudette Bright and sister, Gertrude McKinnon. Mildred is survived by her daughter Anne McCook (Rick); son-in-law Edward Bright (Carolyn); grandsons, Craig Bright (Cindy), Todd Bright (Heather), Ryan McCook, and granddaughter Kelly McCook Kaplan (Josh). She also is survived by seven great grandchildren and other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends beginning 10AM, Saturday, June 1, 2013 in the chapel of the funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life at 11AM. Her grandson Todd Bright will officiate. Interment will immediately follow at Arlington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in her memory to the Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC or The Alzheimer's Association.
