Raymond Bessette
1937 - 2015 DUMMERSTON Raymond William Bessette died on March 18, at Pine Heights in Brattleboro, Vt. after a long illness. Raymond was born on April 15, 1937 in Burlington, Vt., the son of Agnes Evans and Julius Bessette. He was raised in Dummerston, Vt. by his Aunt and Uncle, Anne and Harrison Evans. Raymond was stationed in Rhode Island as a member of the U.S. Navy. Upon separation from the Navy he was employed by Wirthmore Feeds, Quinn Freightlines, Town of Dummerston, Napa Auto Parts, and Sanels. He also volunteered with the West Dummerston Volunteer Fire Department. On July 4, 1958, Raymond married Carol Hazelton, who survives. He is survived by three sons, Dale Bessette of Guilford, Randy Bessette of Pasa Robles, Calif., Raymond Bessette of Vernon; and three daughters, Debbie Towle of Brattleboro, Dawn Hubbard of Dummerston, and Carol Wood of Dummerston. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard; and a sister, Carol; and a cousin, Betsy Isham. He was predeceased by a cousin, Barbara Evans Little. An open house will be held on Monday March 23, from 4 - 8 p.m. in the vestry of the Dummerston Congregational Church, Dummerston Center, Vt. A private burial will take place at a later date.
