  Notes	The Times Argus, Montpelier-Barre, Vermont, Monday, June 6, 2005 Martin H. Bass BARRE - Martin H. Bass, 83, of Palmisano Plaza, died June 3, 2005, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin. He was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Randolph, son of Arthur C. and Lucy (Bean) Bass. He graduated from Randolph High School. He married Louise Chapin in White River Junction on Nov. 20, 1947. They spent most of their married life in Barre. She died on July 8, 2003. Mr. Bass served in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps from 1940 to 1945 during World War II. He was stationed in the European and the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was a parts manager for many years at the former Lyons-Farnham Automobile Dealership in Berlin. He retired in 1984. He had been affiliated with the Hedding United Methodist Church and was a life member of the American Legion Post 10 in Barre. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time at a family cottage on Woodbury Lake. Survivors include one son, Arthur C. Bass of Bellingham, Wash.; two daughters, Cathy Shaffner of Troutman, N.C., and Kelly Sanderson of Montpelier; two sisters, Ruth Ruch of Richford and Linda Bradshaw of Asheville, N.C.; one granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, two brothers, and three sisters. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at noon in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center. Contributions may be made to the Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, VT 05641. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home in Barre.
