  Notes	News Courier, January 1968 Sgt. Joseph F. Bass WEST COLUMBIA - Sgt. (Ret.) Joseph F. Bass Sr. of Cayce, died Thursday at Fort Jackson Station Hospital. Funeral will be Saturday at 4 p.m. in Cayce Methodist Church. Burial will be in Southland Memorial Gardens, with full military honors. Sgt. Bass was born in Brittons Neck, a son of F. Graves and Bertha Matthews Bass. He retired from active duty in the US Army several months ago, and was with the finance division at Fort Jackson at the time of his death. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Alma Dixon Bass; two daughters, Mrs. Billie Valley of Cleveland, Ohio and Kay Bass of Cayce; two sons, Joseph F. Bass Jr. of Omaha, Neb. and John Bass of Cayce; two brothers, Robert D. Bass of Due West and T. H. Bass of Panama Canal Zone; and seven sisters, Mrs. E. M. Woodberry, Mrs. P. L. Boatwright and Mary Bass of Brittons Neck, Mrs. Evans Gause of Charleston, Mrs. Lucy Davis of Gresham, Mrs. Kassandra Harrelson of Mullins and Mrs. E. B. Atkinson of Palm Springs, Fla.
