  Notes	Kokomo Tribune, Indiana, Thursday, 15 December 1937 Aged Colored Woman Dies Here Wednesday Following an illness of several weeks, Mrs. Easter Bassett, age 91, succumbed at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Levi Palmer, 2001 North Washington street, Wednesday night; at 9:30 o?clock. She was the daughter of Oren and Hester Ellis, one of Ervin township?s pioneer couples. Mrs. Bassett moved there at the age of two years and had resided in Kokomo the remainder of her life. She was a devout Christian and was one of the founders of the Second Baptist church. She was active in this work until her last illness. Surviving, with the daughter, are one sister, Mrs. Julia Vaughan, Kokomo, a brother, Heywood Ellis, Fort Wayne, three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o?clock at the Second Baptist church, the Rev. T.H. Ward officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the daughter?s home after 3 o?clock Friday afternoon.
