Alpheaus Bassett
Deacon Alpheaus Bassett 1909-1991. He was the son of Alfred (Lela) Bassett. He was a native of Sumpter County, AL. He passed away January 26, 1991 at his residence in Prichard, AL. He become a member of the Goodwill Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon board until his death. He was a 33 Degree Mason and a member of Gulf City Lodge #14. He is survived by his devoted wife, Emma Bassett of Prichard; three children, Fred (Ora) Bassett of Chicago, ILL., Catherine (Kenneth) Ford of Detroit, MI, Lela Samuel of Ferndale, MI; three sisters, Helen (Charles) Hornby of Quito, Ecuador, South America, Rosie Allen of Chicago, ILL, Luida (Willie) Giles, of Prichard , AL; one aunt, Lonia Mays of Mississippi; two step-daughters, Sheila Eason and Gloria Norrington of Chicago, ILL; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 1, 1991 from the Goodwill Baptist Church, 1038 Grant Ave, Prichard from 5-9 PM. Family will receive friends from 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 2, 1991 at 11 from the church with Rev. Jeffery Thrash Pastor and officiating minister. Interment will follow in the Lawn Haven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Reese Funeral Home, 925 Bessemer Avenue, Prichard, AL. Police escort for funerals.
