Russell L. Bass
Funeral services and interment for Russell L. Bass, 77, a resident of Palatine since 1943, were private. He died Sept. 10 at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights. Mr. Bass was born April 29, 1922, in Humboldt, Ill. Prior to his retirement, he had worked in the plumbing and heating industry. He had also worked for the village of Palatine as a plumbing inspector for 13 years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Palatine American Legion Post 690. Surviving family members include his wife, Jessie D.; two daughters, Rose Ahlgrim of Palatine and Gwendy (Cliff) Steif of Woodstock; four grandchildren, Pamela Sundeen, Daniel Ahlgrim, Rusty Steif and Jodie (Fernando) Cardenas; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Dakota Steif, Garrett Ahlgrim and Alejandra Cardenas. He is also survived by a brother, Victor (Lorraine) of Hebron, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Theda Phillippe; and two brothers, Harold and Forest. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 123 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine, IL. Arrangements were made with Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, Palatine.
