Lottie Lee Bass Davis
GRESHAM - Services for Lottie Bass Davis, 87, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis, widow of William Lacy Davis, died Monday, February 28, 2000, at Marion County Medical Center after an illness. Born January 23, 1913 in Paces, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Fletcher Graves Bass and Bertha Matthews Bass.
She was a farmer, former owner and operator of W. L. Davis Grocery Store and retired as bookmobile driver for the Marion County Library. She attended the University of South Carolina. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Marion Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Marion County Genealogical Society. She was instrumental in the publication of the book "101 Cemeteries of Marion County". She also worked for the Cancer Fund and the Heart Fund. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer.
She is survived by one son, William Lacy Davis Jr. of Myrtle Beach.
Mrs. Davis was predeceased by three brothers and seven sisters.
