He was born on April 5, 1951 in Wetzel County, the son of the late Clyde and Esta Spencer Bassett. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Howard Bassett and a sister, Wilma Highley. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine F. (Harrison) Bassett; a daughter, Angie (Clark) Postlewait of Piney, West Virginia; four sons, Steve (Kristy) Bassett of Piney, Brad (Sarah) Bassett of Jacksonburg, West Virginia, Andy (Heather) Bassett of Piney and Tom (Amber) Bassett of Crows Run, West Virginia; a sister, Ellen Highley also of Crows Run, 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will take place at the Straight Cemetery, Reader, West Virginia. Arrangements entrusted to Palmer Funeral Home, Pine Grove, West Virginia.
