KISSIMMEE. Aug. 29. ? (Special). George W. Bass died at his home August 26. The funeral Services were conductged from the house, Rev. Lawler, assited by Rev. witherspoon, officiating. The Jasons conducted the burial.
Mr. Bass was also a member of the Knights of Pythias order. When two years old his family moved to Cross Prairie, near St. Could, in this county, which was then known as Brevard County. He grew to manhood there, and in 1868 married Susannah Sansbury, daughter of S.H. Sansbury, of Darlington, South Carolina. In 1869 theymoved to Darlington, but after a period of three years, returned to Cross Prairie, and resided there until thirty-three years ago, when they moved into the residence in Kissimmee, which they occupied till the day of his death. Mr. Bass was a contractor and had the distinction of having been the first contractor to operate in Kissimmee. Those surviving Mr. bass are three sons, W.C. Bass, M.J. Bass, of Mulberry, and F.T. Bass, of Tampa, and two daughters, Mrs. J.M. Paulk, of Cairo, Georgia, and Mrs. J.L. Overstree, of this city, all being present at his bedside when he passed away.
