He was preceded in death by his father, William Douglas Bass Sr. He is survived by his son, David Bass of Elm City; daughter, Niki Bass of Lucama; mother, Dorothy Ricks Draper of Elm City; sister, Cathy Bass Abbott and husband, the Rev. Henry Abbott, of Henderson; brothers, Donald Bass and wife, Dee, of Elm City, David Bass and wife, Kristie, of Wilson, Charles Daniel Draper of Elm City and Jerry Wayne Draper of Elm City. A memorial service will be held Thursday, 6:30 p.m., at Gethsemane Independent Baptist Church, 3539 London Church Road, Elm City. The Rev. Henry Abbott and the Rev. Johnny Taylor will officiate; visitation to follow service, and other times at the home of his brother, Donald Bass, 6603 E. Langley Road, Elm City, NC 27822.
