- Archibald Bassett graduated from Yale College in 1796 and was ordained a pastor at Winchester, Connecticut on 30 May 1801 and dismissed on 27 Aug 1806. He moved from Winchester, Connecticut to Walton, Delaware County, New York and was pastor of the church there from 1807 to 1810.
From Pastor Julius S. Pattengill, Ledfer of Marriages and Deaths, the Reverend Archibald Bassett died 1 May 1858 aged 87 from influenza and old age.

The Town of Walton
Archibald Bassett came in 1808 and occupied the Fitch house; he was the first installed pastor of the Congregational church. Hon. Benjamin J. Bassett and Mrs. Hoyt, his children survive him...
In May of this year, Rev. Archibald Bassett was invited to preach, and soon after received a formal call. He was duly installed as the first settled pastor of the church, and remained pastor till 1811. Under the ministry of Mr. Bassett, in the year of 1807, an extensive revival prevailed, when seventy-five were added to the church. During the interval after Mr. Bassett's resignation, Rev. Orange Lyman preached as stated supply for about six months. In 1813 Rev. Isaac Headley was called, and in 1815 he was installed. About this time thirty-seven members were dismissed to organize the Second Congregational Church in Walton, now known as the North Walton Congregational Church.
