John Bass, Well Known Local Citizen, Dead
John Bass, 48 years of age, proprietor of the Elk?s hotal at Longview Junction, died Monday evening at 10 o?clock at his hotel, where he made his home. Mr. Bass had been ill only for a few days with pneumonia, which proved fatal because of his having been in ill health for a number of years.
Despite the suffering he endured during the past few years John Bass was able to be out most of the time and was of a particular genial nature.
Mr. Bass was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors and in addition to the Elk hotel property owned considerable eother property in Longview. He is survived by a brother, Sam Bass, T. and P. conductor and one sister, Mrs. Pat Rembert.
Funeral services were held today from the home of Pat Rembert, with the services conducted by Revs. R.M. Hall of the First Presbytieran and Rev. F.E. Luker of the Kelly Memorial Methodist church.
