  Notes	Will of William Joseph Bassett This is the Last Will and Testament of me William Joseph BASSETT of number fourteen Eden Street in the Borough of Sunderland in the County of Durham Master Mariner made this fifth day of June one thousand eight hundred and sixty six. I give devise and bequeath unto my dear wife Susannah BASSETT her heirs executors administrators and assigns all that the messuage or dwellinghouse in which I now reside and all other my real estate and also all my money credits household furniture plate linen goods and chattells And all the stock in trade and shop fixtures in the shop number 14 and a half Holmside in the said Borough where I now carry on the business of a Fruiterer and all other my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever. To hold the said real and personal estate unto my said wife her heirs executors administrators and assigns To such uses upon such trusts and for such ends and purposes as she my said wife shall by deed or will direct and appoint and in default or subject to any such direction or appointment to and for her and their own use and benefit absolutely for ever. I nominate and appoint my said wife to be sole Executrix of this my Will and I hereby revoke all former wills. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand the day and year aforesaid W J Bassett Signed by the said Testator and published by him as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other all present at the same time have we subscribe our names as witnesses Rob. Brown Solicitor Sunderland John Marshall Clerk to Messrs R Brown & Son Proved at Durham on the 12th day of December 1885 by the Oath of Susannah Bassett Widow the relict the sole Executrix to whom administration was granted. Probate document On the twelfth day of December 1885 th Will of William Joseph BASSETT late of No14 Eden Street Sunderland in the County of Durham Master Mariner deceased who died on the fifth day of September 1885 at No 14 Eden Street aforesaid was proved in Her Majesty's High Court of Justice in the District Registry attached to the Probate Division thereof at Durham by the Oath of Susannah Bassett of No 14 Eden Street aforesaid Widow the Relict of the said deceased the sole Executrix named (in the said Will) she having been first sworn duly to administer.
