Nancy Rella (Sargent) Bassett (Picture included)
Peacefully at home at age 87, August 12, 2010. Beloved and devoted mother and daughter of God has gone home to her Heavenly Father. She accomplished life beautifully.
Nancy's life was devoted to her children. She is survived by 3 daughters: Diane J. Deli (Robert), Margie M. Koresko (James), and Esther L. Bills and 2 sons: Ronald R. Harris (Mary) and Milford (Mel) P. Bassett. Nancy was also blessed with 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Gosha; and brother, Warren both of W. VA. Nancy was married first, to Ray J. Harris and then to Milford P. Bassett who both preceded her in death. Nancy raised her children alone for many years and devoted her life to their care.
Nancy was born on August 31, 1922 in Richwood, West Virginia and was always proud of her heritage. She has lived most of her life in New York. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, where she faithfully served in many capacities. She was also a long-time member of The Daughters of the American Revolution.
Nancy loved Genealogy and spent years researching to find her ancestors. She was fond of telling her children the stories of their ancestors.
Nancy had a keen mind and a quick wit. She loved the music of West Virginia, beautiful flowers and watching all the birds that played on her deck.
After years of physical trials she was ready to go home to her Savior. She will be missed by all who were part of her life, but most especially by her children who dearly love and revere their mother.
