Thomas A. Bass
Thomas A. Bass, 58, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center.Thomas retired from Bristol Myers Squibb after 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served 3 years active duty and 3 years reserves. Thomas was an active member of Bible Center Cathederal where he taught Sunday school with his wife. He was passionate about reading his Bible and spending a lot of time in prayer. Thomas also loved woodworking.Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Brenda "Kathy" Bass of Evansville; son, Derrick Bass of Evansville; son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Robin Bass of Mount Vernon, Indiana; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Pat Bass of Texas; sister, Phyllis (Bass) Carroll; grandchildren, Megan and Samuel Bass; several nieces and nephews; and many loving members of his wife's family including his mother-in-law, Wilma Murphy; sisters-in-law, Peggy L. Douglas and her husband, Max, and Tonjua Gray and her husband, Jerry.Tom was preceded in death by parents, George Thomas and Violet Mae (Graul) Bass and brother-in-law, Rick Murphy in 1973.Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Browning Funeral Home, with Pastors Julie Wells and Rick Van Hoose officiating. Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites at the funeral home.Friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 28, at Browning Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Riley Childrens Hospital, 30 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204-4539.
