Duncan Edward Bass Jr.
Duncan was the son of Duncan Bass, Sr. and Lora Mae Sheffield.
Sgt. Bass began his tour in Vietnam on January 23, 1966. He was under the command of the 1st Infantry Division, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, Unit Hhc.
He received the Good Conduct and Purple Heart.
Besides his parents, he left a wife-Peggy Elaine Mills Bass to mourn his loss. They had been married for 2 weeks when he left for Vietnam.
Sgt Duncan Bass was killed during Operation Attleboro. That proved to be a rather significant battle when the Americans were able to seize 2 million pounds of rice, 116 transportation bicycles, approx. 25,000 Chinese hand grenades, 481 M18 Claymore anti-personnel mines, 80 rocket launchers, 25 machine guns, numerous pistols and rifles, clothing, tobacco and food.
