Julia M. Bass
DONIPHAN -- Julia M. Bass, 76, of Doniphan died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at home following a lengthy illness.
Per Mrs. Bass' wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation.
A private family burial ceremony will be held at a later date at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bass was born Dec. 27, 1926, at Boise, Idaho, to Hugh R. and Ella J. (Schoonover) Stewart.
Survivors of her immediate family include her husband, Richard "Dick" Bass, and three sons and a daughter-in-law, Rodney and Lynda Bass of Doniphan, David Bass of Doniphan, and Richard and Jackie Bass of Broken Arrow, Okla.
Also surviving are six grandchildren.
As a child, Mrs. Bass resided with her family in Idaho, California and Arkansas, where she graduated from high school.
She was united in marriage to R.W. "Dick" Bass on Jan. 22, 1945, in Little Rock, Ark. The couple made their home in Grand Island, where Julia was a homemaker and cosmetologist. They later built the first house on Amick Acres in Doniphan and moved there in 1970.
Mrs. Bass was a member of the United Methodist Church of Doniphan. She especially enjoyed volunteer work, playing the organ, fishing, flower gardening, bird watching, crafts, knitting and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harvey and Merle Stewart.
