Charles Bassett
VILLA GROVE ? Charles Bassett, 85, of Villa Grove passed away at 12:45 p.m. Sunday (May 3, 2015) at his home with family by his side. A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at the Villa Grove Cemetery. Pastor Mike Zylstra will be officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery. A visitation will be held at the Joines Funeral Home, Villa Grove, from 1 to 2 p.m. preceding the service. Mr. Bassett was born on March 7, 1930, in Tuscola. He was the son of Jessie H. and Jessie M. Smith Bassett. He married Rosella Page in October 1948 in Villa Grove. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Terry of Tuscola, Charles Jr. of Bradley and David of Villa Grove; two daughters, Nancy Myles of Bondville and Becky Bassett of Albuquerque, N.M.; nine grandsons; four granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, four sisters, one granddaughter and one great-grandson. Mr. Bassett worked for Magnavox for 15 years. He later worked in maintenance for over 20 years at Carle Foundation Hospital before retiring in 1996.He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
