Ruth B. Knight
PORTSMOUTH ? Ruth B. Knight, 80, formerly of Sherburne Avenue, died Saturday, December 12, 2015, at St. Ann Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Dover.
Born December 18, 1934, in Burlington, Vermont, she was the daughter of Dr. Raymond E. Bassett and Alice (Dodge) Bassett. Her family moved to Durham in 1948 and she had resided in Portsmouth for over 30 years.
Ruth was a 1953 graduate of Dover High School and had attended the University of New Hampshire.
She is survived by her son, William F. Knight Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., her sister, Nancy Campbell and her sister's partner, Donald Verchick, of Cromwell, Conn., her nieces, nephew, great-nephews and great-nieces; Belinda and Peter Labourdette of Dover, N.H., Cooper and Jimmy Lloyd, of Winsted, Conn., Carrie Campbell, Simon Pritikin and their daughters Jasmine and Olivia, of Shoreline, Washington and Andrew and KathyAnn Campbell and their sons Alex and Connor also of Winsted, Conn., and several cousins.
Ruth requested that there be no services. She was buried on her birthday in Durham Cemetery alongside her parents.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Ann Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Dover, N.H., for the excellent home they provided Ruth these last years and all her neighbors and friends throughout the years who made her life rich and rewarding.
