      Charles ??Ray? Bassett, 72, of Coatsville (Heritage Lake) died March 14, 2009. He was born August 23, 1936 in Bedford, Indiana to Arno and Ethel Bassett. Mr. Bassett was an electrical engineer with PSI at Plainfield, (now Duke Energy) for 37 years, retiring in 1994. He was currently working with his son, Michael, at their company, Scott Pet, since his retirement. ??Ray? was a member of First Baptist Church Danville, The Princeton, In. Masonic Lodge, The Rockville, Indiana. Elks Lodge and American Legion Post there. ??Ray? served his country in two branches of services, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. Private graveside services were held at Danville South Cemetery with Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home Danville in charge of arrangements. Survivors: sons, Michael and Donald, both of Rockville and Jon Bassett, of Fishers. A daughter, Julia Riffy, of Danville, 9 grandchildren, sister, Fern Cross of Edinburgh and Bonnie Ingle, of Bedford. Brothers, Terry Bassett, of Princeton and Richard Brown, of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Bettie Sue (Cundiff) Bassett.

      Charles Ray Bassett
      Charles ?Ray? Bassett of the Heritage Lake community in Coatesville died Saturday. He was 72.

      Born Aug. 23, 1936, in Bedford, he was a son of Arno and Ethel Bassett. He was the widower of Bettie Sue (Cundiff) Bassett, who he had been married to for 43 years.

      He served in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army.

      Mr. Bassett worked 37 years as an electrical engineer with PSI in Plainfield (now known as Duke Energy), before retiring in 1994. After retirement, he worked with his son, Michael, at their company, Scott Pet.

      He was a member of First Baptist Church in Danville, The Princeton Masonic Lodge, The Elks Lodge in Rockville, and the Masonic Lodge in Rockville. He was a lifetime member of the NRA.

      Survivors include sons Michael and Donald Bassett, both of Rockville, and Jon Bassett of Fishers; a daughter, Julie Riffey of Danville; nine grandchildren; sisters Fern Cross of Edinburgh and Bonnie Ingle of Bedford; and brothers Terry Bassett of Princeton and Richard Brown of Bedford.

      Private graveside services were held at Danville South Cemetery.

      Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home in Danville handled arrangements.
