- Nellie Fay Bassett had an anurysm at age 26 and doctors replaced her heart valve with a mechanical valve. The anurysm was caused by Marfan's syndrome.

Nellie (Bassett) Utley, 38, died January 11, 2003, at Hendricks Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Janaury 14, 2003 at the Bible Chapel with Jack Burton and Don Woods officiating. Burial will be at Rocky Hill cemetery in Sebastopol, Mississippi.
Nellie (Bassett) Utley was born September 22, 1964 at Paducah, Texas. She went to be with the Lord January 11, 2003 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas after a short illness. She was a former beautician in Abilene and was currently working as a Specialty Technician at the Trauma Center at Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene.
Proceeding her in death was her father Stancel Oscar (Slim) Bassett of Abilene and both sets of grandparents. She is survived by her daughter Christa (Utley) and Jack Burnette, of El Paso, Texas. Two grandsons Nihles and Zachariah of El Paso, Texas, her mother Margie Bassett of Abilene, Texas. Sister Linnie and LaVoyd Davis of Cyril, Oklahoma, mother and father-in-law Joann (Utley) and Elton Bentle of Fort Worth, Texas, grandmother Ruth Bruner of Fort Worth, Texas. Also, many aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of friends.
Nellie was a precious and loving person to all, caring for everyone. She would go the extra mile for those in need. She had a tremendous smile and the room would illuminate with her presence. O'yes, she will be missed but our remembrance of Nellie attributes will enhance our own standard for living life.
Vistation will be at 6-7:30 p.m. on Monday at North's Funeral Home.
