Ruthie Thayer AGE: 73 ? Newark
Ruthie B. Thayer, 73, of Newark, DE died on Tuesday June 9, 2015 as she lived; peacefully. Born July 12, 1941 in New Bedford, MA, Ruthie was the daughter of the late Howard Bassett and Marie (Johnson) Sutterland. Ruthie spent her life caring for others. She was a certified nurse's aide for over fifty years; twenty of those years at Millcroft Senior Living Community. A deeply spiritual person who enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, singing, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
Ruthie is survived by her two daughters, Valerie Thayer of Lewes, DE and Lena Thayer-Seely and her husband, Adam of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Jason, Brian, and Caroline Gassert, Janel and Evelyn Wice, and Benjamin and Lauren Seely; brother, Wayne Bassett and his wife, Sue; as well as many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband and friend, Brian Thayer as well as her sister, Betty-Ann Bassett.
A celebration of her life will be held in Ruthie's honor at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Condolences may be sent via www.rtfoard.com or by mail to R.T. Foard & Jones Inc.
