Peter N. Bessette Dies Suddenly
Peter N. Bessette, of Plattsburgh, a brother of Noel and Charles Bessette, and Mrs. Edward Fayette, of Malone, died suddenly of heart disease on Wednesday night last, aged 64 years. Mr. Bessette was a frequent visitor in Malone in past years and his relatives and many friends here were shocked and saddened by the announcement that he had passed away.
Death came to Mr. Bessette suddenly and without warning. He was employed as night watchman at the Catholic Summer School at Cliff Haven and was found at 11:15 o’clock Wednesday night in a chair on the dining hall porch of the summer school. He was immediately taken to the Champlain Valley Hospital, Plattsburgh, but the physicians at the hospital after and examination, stated that life was extinct when he was brought to the hospital. Death was due to a sudden attack of heart weakness.
Mr. Bessette was the proprietor of a harness shop located on Marion street in Plattsburgh, bur during the summer months was employed as night watchman of the Summer School, having been thus employed each summer for the past five years. He was a life-long resident of Plattsburgh and leaves a multitude of friends in that city and vicinity. He was a member of the St. Jeanne Baptiste Society and of the Order of Foresters.
Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Laura, and Marion, of Plattsburgh, two sons, Raymond of Plattsburgh, and Oscar, of Albany; two brothers, Noel and Charles Bessette, of Malone, and three sisters, Mrs. Napoleon Girard, of Plattsburgh; Mrs. Edward Fayette, of Malone and Mrs. Edward Mayo, of Munson, Mass.

Funeral Services for P.N. Bessette
The funeral of Peter N. Bessette who died on Wednesday night took place at St. Peter’s church in this city on Saturday morning at nine o’clock. The high mass of requiem was sung by Rev. Father Julian Racette, O.M.I., pastor of the church. Special music was rendered during the service by members of the church choir.
The pall bearers were all members of the St. Jean d’Baptist association of which Mr. Bessette was for many years a well liked member.
Members of the association, including the guard of honor, the personnel of the Horicon Hose and Engine company of which Mr. Bessette was also a member, besides numerous friends and relatives attended the service.
Among the out of town people who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bessette and family of Malone, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fayette of Malone, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Bouyea of Malone, Mrs. Norman Bourdeau of Malone, Mrs. Edward Mavo of Monson, Mass., Hubert Girard of New York, Clarence Girard of New York, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Girard of New York, Mr. and Mrs. John Bessette of Redford and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hayes of Beckmantown, Raymond Bessette of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Oscar Bessette4 of Albany.
Burial took place in St. Peter’s cemetery.
