John Wesley “J.B.” Bassett

John Wesley “J.B.” Bassett, 15, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Friday, February 1, 2008, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
John attended First Baptist Church Downtown, where he was dedicated as a child and sang in the church choir. He attended preschool through the third grade at Trinity Lutheran School. He later graduated from Harwood Middle School and was currently a freshman at Central High School. He enjoyed working on engines and was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed go-carts, target shooting, music and especially playing the drums, Xbox 360 and hanging out with all his friends.
Surviving are his parents, Gary and Susan (Marx) Bassett of Evansville; sister, Hannah Beth Bassett of Evansville; grandparents, Maxine and Walter Putnam of Evansville, Robert E. Marx of Tennyson, Indiana, and Dorothy and Steve Gerber of Evansville; aunt, Tammy Stroud and her husband, Billy Stroud, of Madisonville, Kentucky; uncle; Bob Marx of Evansville; and cousins, Clay Stroud, Eric Stroud, Ryan Marx and Craig Marx.
John was preceded in death by his grandpa, Henry L. Bassett.
Funeral service are planned for 10 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., with the Reverend George Huffsmith officiating. Burial will be held at Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, at Browning Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with John’s final expenses.
