      Wedding
      Olive-Bassett

The wedding of Mr. E. Olive son of Mr. and Mrs. Olive, Mullumbimby, and Edith, fourth daughter of Mrs. B.L. Bassett, Mullumbimby Creek, was solemnized at the Presbyterian Church on 20th inst., Rev. J. Robb officiating. The bride, who was given away by her brother, was attired in a pretty frock of ivory crepe de chene and georgette, the bodice having the new long waisted effect and the skirt being composed entirely of frills. The usual wreath and veil were worn, and a handsome shower bouquet with satin streamers was carried. Miss Irene Olive attended as bridesmaid and wore a pretty frock of maize taffeta and georgette with large hat of pink tulle trimmed with black velvet; a shower bouquet was also carried. Mr. Victor Bassett was best man. The church had been charmingly decorated, and Miss Odie Barrett played Mendellsohn?s Wedding March as the party left the church. The breakfast was served at Carkagis? Café, at which only the immediate relatives and friends of both families were present. The happy couple left later by motor car for Tweed Heads, en route to Brisbane and Warwick where the honeymoon is being spent. The bride travelled in a putty crepe de chene dress with hat of brown velvet. The bride?s present to the bride was a xylonite toilet set, and to the bridesmaid a gold bangle. Mrs. Bassett, mother of the bride, wore a gown of wolf grey crepe de chene, relieved with piping of saxe blue and black velvet hat trimmed with wings. Mrs. Olive, mother of bridegroom, wore nigger brown crepe de chene and a black hat. The bouquets were made and presented by Miss Odie Barrett, whilst the handsome wedding cake was the work of Mrs. W. Stewart, sister of the bride.
