Marie Pearl Bassett
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin and friend departed this life on February 3, 2013 to live a more glorious life in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We were blessed to have her for 94 wonderful years. She was born to the late Peter and Gussie Carter on March 21, 1918 in Latham, Alabama. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and united with the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and attended the public schools in Latham. Mrs. Bassett was predeceased by her husband Julius, one brother, four sisters, one daughter-in-law and one granddaughter. Mama had a gentle but strong spirit. She was a caring Mother who dearly loved her family, we were her joy, and we are so thankful to have the benefit of her wisdom and guidance. She was a great cook and delighted in feeding her family and friends. Although she will be deeply missed, her memory shall forever remain in our hearts. She has left us a legacy of faith, kindness and compassion. Her beautiful life will be cherished by four loving, dedicated and devoted children: Thelma (Rev. Clarence) Salter, Pensacola, Florida; Julius III (Lillie) Bassett, Brandon, Florida; Lawrence (Edna) Bassett and Herman Bassett, Pensacola, Florida; four grandchildren, Angela Bassett, S. Dartmouth, Massachusetts; Victor Bassett, Brandon, Florida; Clinton (R.
