Mrs. Bass, wife of the late Joseph Fletcher Bass Sr., died Thursday, March 11, 1999. Born in Florence, she was a daughter of the late John Merriman and Alma Parker Dixon. She retired as a registered nurse from Moncrief Army Hospital. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Cayce United Methodist Church and Amanda Crapps Circle. Surviving are her sons, Joseph Fletcher Bass Jr. of Germantown, Md., John Roland Bass of Alpharetta, Ga.; daughters, Billie Bass Valley of Cayce, Kay Bass Gonos of El Paso, Texas; brother, William H. Dixon of Florence; sister, Johnnie D. Stanton of Florence; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
