Services In Memory of Mrs. Bassett To Be Monday Afternoon
Final tribute in memory of Mrs. Jennie Bassett, prominent Kane woman who succumbed at new Castle yesterday while on a visit with her son, Melvin Bassett, will be held from her late home, 310 Chase street, Monday afternoon at 2:30 o?clock.
Mrs. Bassett succumbed to a heart attack yesterday morning at 7:40 o?clock. The remains were brought here late yesterday and taken to the Brown funeral home. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bassett with whom she had been visiting since Thanksgiving, accompanied the body here.
It was stated today that Mrs. Bassett?s health has been failing but that her condition had not be regarded as serious. She arose early yesterday and was preparing for breakfast when stricken. She succumbed instantly.
Mrs. Bassett was born in Muncy, Pa., June 26, 1863. She came to Kane about 50 years ago and has resided here since. She was prominently identified with activities of the First Methodist church, of which she was a devoted member, or the Order of Eastern Star and the W.B.A. association.
Her husband, the late L.D. Bassett, succumbed 12 years ago.

Mrs. Jennie M. Bassett
Mrs. Jennie M. Bassett, of Kane, Pa., widow of Leon D. Bassett, died suddenly of a heart attack at 7:45 o?clock this morning at the home of her son Melvin R. Bassett, 127 Fairfield avenue, where she had been spending the winter.
Mrs. Bassett would have been 73 years old in June. She was a resident of Kane for over fifty years, but had been with her son since the first of November. Although her health was not good, her sudden death came as a great shock to the family.
In addition to her son she leaves one grandchild Margaret Joyce Bassett, this city, and one sister Mrs. A. C. Snyder, of Elizabethtown.
The body was removed this morning to Kane, Pa., where funeral services will be conducted.
