Bass, 57, of Henderson, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Jackson-Madison County Hospital. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Henderson Church of Christ. Burial will take place in Montezuma C.M.E. Church Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Mercer Brothers Funeral Home in Jackson, with the family receiving friends from 6 until 7 p.m. His remains will lie-in-state at Henderson Church of Christ Saturday from 11 a.m. until noon. Arrangements were handled by Mercer Brothers Funeral Home. He was a member of Plainview Church of Christ in Henderson. He is survived by two children, Jose Anderson (Crystal) and Mononika Howard (Sha); a grandson, Izaya Howard; three siblings Robert Bass (Dorothy), Zelmar Bass and Albenda White (Arthur); and significant other, Stella Garland. He was preceded in death by a sister, Narvenda Rebecca (Becky) Bass.
